Still loyal to the two-buck

We celebrated our anniversary in Temecula wine country a bit south of where we live. In addition to just enjoying some time away and alone together, we did some wine tasting. We aren't huge wine connoisseurs, but (or maybe, "so") we bought a lot of wine and even joined two wine clubs. Our favorite was a port from Stuart Cellars. I like Chardonnay a lot, but I definitely liked some of the Chardonnays we tasted less than I enjoy my fairly regular glass of Two-buck Chuck's Chardonnay. At least I'm not the only one who feels that way--Charles Shaw's Chardonnay won a gold medal at the CA state fair this year.

Wine is something I've always wanted to learn to appreciate. My husband and I went to a wine tasting last fall, and though we found it intimidating because we didn't know much, it was a lot of fun. I think we'll do it again. But I agree that the expensive wines aren't always better - our $7 bottle of Beringer white zinfandel remained our favorite. Glad you had a good time!

Oh my goodness Amy, I followed the link from your blog and then Googled the wine - there is a HUGE uproar on the internet about this stuff! As you might suspect, it's the "sophisticated" wine snobs vs. the "common man" (to use the terminology of one of the wine snobs). I'm dying to try it now, but there is nary a Trader Joe's to be found in my neck of the woods. Oh well....

I am thinking of going back to the Temecula area to do some wine tasting again. Possibly the second week of July. Would you guys been interested?
