I saw an old Ghirardelli ad over the weekend that made my English major's skin crawl. It's so bad that it rivals the McDonald's billboard ad for Chicken McNuggets. (If you've seen it, you know exactly which one I'm talking about. If you haven't, it features a picture of a mother saying, "I love them as much as my kids.")
The Ghirardelli ad read:
"Ghirardelli: Pure as the roses that glow upon the cheeks of little children". Serve with 1 cup bits of metaphors, mixed well.
Or "soft as a baby's behind".....
BTW, check out "your" new notoriety on the front page of today's Columbus Dispatch. Here's the link:

What the hell is Ghirardelli anyway?
Posted by: Sarah at March 18, 2004 12:54 AMGhirardelli makes very, very, very yummy chocolate. And chocolate ice cream. And hot chocolate mix. You get the idea. It's made in San Francisco. There are Ghirardelli ice cream shops in all the cheesy tourist traps in California, and one in downtown Chicago. Maybe they have them other places, too. I don't know. If you send me your address (I've lost track of you. I can't keep up with all your moving) I'll even send you some of their hot chocolate mix. It's that good. :)
Posted by: Amy at March 18, 2004 1:24 AMWhat, is there no good chocolate in Boston?
And why are all of you, except Peter, up so late?
Posted by: Mom at March 18, 2004 8:52 PMMrs. Farnham - Keep in mind that the times shown on these comments are Eastern Standard, and the posters may be in other time zones. :-)
Posted by: Peter at March 19, 2004 10:24 AMPeter, do you really expect us to believe you "youngins" actually are getting to be old geezers and going to bed before 3am now? Wait till you're REALLY old, (like 30 or something) or if and when you get to the point when you have children that they go to bed after you do. That's called parental revenge I think!
Posted by: Dad at March 19, 2004 5:39 PMPeter, I'm relieved to hear it. I thought the times posted were based on the computer clock of the poster (or postee...).
Posted by: Mom at March 19, 2004 9:11 PMMrs. F - Yes, the time are based on the local time on the server (which happens to be in NYC)
Mr. F - Believe it or not, I get to bed between 10:30-11:00 p.m. most nights. Of course, that's only since I've been married. ;-)
